A small pastel in progress. I started this last night and hoped to finish it this morning, but work got in the way. Have to finish an illustration project and then I'll get back to this. Hopefully today.

This is from a photo of my nieces at the beach.

Playhouse in Highlands, NC. pastel 7x6.5". A quick little study. I have not used pastels in a long time and I forgot how much fun they can be.

3 new glass tumblers. The middle design is similar to one I've done before, but because these are carved/drawn onto the glass, each one is unique. Also, I have found some new glass tumblers that I really like. They are like cylinders with no flair.

Here is another quick study of a small vase with my favorite, happy yellow flowers (need to look up their actual name). This is acrylic on board and probably about 4" wide.

Unfortunately I am cheating already...I did this one a few weeks ago. But it made me realize how fun and quick it can be to finish a small little painting in an hour or so.
These little glass jars make me smile... I've been etching on them and will post some pictures of those soon. Many thanks to friends that are collecting these little jelly jars for me.

I've always loved painting and drawing glass. There are so many wonderful shapes, values and reflections. Maybe a little series of these would be fun.

I am finally dipping my toes into the blogging world.

I've been inspired by so many wonderful, creative blogs about the daily painting movement. I am excited to participate and join the challenge of a daily (weekly?) chronicle of my creative pursuits. I love the idea of practicing daily and believe it is an excellent way to explore, learn and try out new ideas. So...here I go. Let the blogging begin. Please drop by often and let me know what you think! My goal is to post at least 3xs a week.

Pictured is a commissioned bowl with wild azaleas. I love the reflection of the design on the black table.

The painting is oil on canvas. probably 8x10. i painted this on tuesday, very quickly. I was working on another small painting from some images I took in Seattle at the Ballard market one sunday. I had cropped out this dog and kept looking at him..so i decided he could be in his own painting. his movement forward and the man's movement away really caught my interest. so i kept the rest of the painting simple, not wanting to get too caught up in the market scene. sometimes the broad planes of color are more interesting to me.
