I've been inspired by so many wonderful, creative blogs about the daily painting movement. I am excited to participate and join the challenge of a daily (weekly?) chronicle of my creative pursuits. I love the idea of practicing daily and believe it is an excellent way to explore, learn and try out new ideas. So...here I go. Let the blogging begin. Please drop by often and let me know what you think! My goal is to post at least 3xs a week.
Pictured is a commissioned bowl with wild azaleas. I love the reflection of the design on the black table.
The painting is oil on canvas. probably 8x10. i painted this on tuesday, very quickly. I was working on another small painting from some images I took in Seattle at the Ballard market one sunday. I had cropped out this dog and kept looking at him..so i decided he could be in his own painting. his movement forward and the man's movement away really caught my interest. so i kept the rest of the painting simple, not wanting to get too caught up in the market scene. sometimes the broad planes of color are more interesting to me.
Beautiful work, Marlis! I'm so happy you're doing this blog so I can keep up with your artistic endeavors. It's inspiring how you excel in such different mediums, and I love reading about your inspirations, aspirations and motivations regarding your work. Keep it up! :D
